Between the coronavirus pandemic, juggling our daily lives, and figuring out an evolving insurance environment, getting the care you need can feel overwhelming. Well, we’re here to spread the word: Virtual Care/Telemedicine can be a seamless way to get the care you need, when you need it for a majority of common health concerns. And now booking a virtual care appointment has never been easier thanks to the Carbon Health app.

Some of the benefits of Carbon Health’s Virtual Care:

  • Talk to your doctor online anytime, anywhere (even after your appointment is over).
  • All major insurance accepted in California, and affordable visit fee elsewhere (DE,TX, FL, NY, PA, AZ, IL, OH, MI, WA, VA, GA, NC, MA, NJ) with out-of-pocket payment caps.
  • We offer virtual urgent care, primary care, mental health, and pediatrics. Get help with all of your healthcare needs virtually in the app.
  • Our app and video technology are HIIPA compliant.

What you need to get started:

  1. Your insurance card (for California patients)
  2. Your ID
  3. Your smartphone

Schedule your appointment:

Step 1: Download the Carbon Health app for IOS orAndroid.

Step 2: Open the app and tap the green “Get Care” button.

Then, choose from the following options:

  • Urgent Care: ideal for immediate medical attention for injuries, infections, or any unplanned medical need.
  • Primary Care: ideal for wellness and preventive care for long-term health needs like vaccinations, physicals, and medications.
  • Pediatrics: ideal for all your urgent and routine pediatric questions whenever your child has a medical need.
  • Mental Health: video-based therapy for common mental health issues like anxiety and depression.

Step 3: Select your symptom from the menu or search for your specific symptom.

Step 4: Choose your appointment time.

Quick Tip: Virtual Care appointments can be made up to 10 minutes prior to the start of your virtual visit. Just be sure you complete your registration information before your appointment time, or your appointment will be rescheduled.

Step 5: Create your account if you haven’t already. If you already have an account, select an option for how you’d like to pay for your visit using insurance or with a credit card.

Step 6: Read over and sign the “Consent to Treat” form.

Step 7: Confirm your appointment details. Once confirmed, you’ll answer a few questions from our team to give them more background on your specific health issue.

What to Expect from a Virtual Care Appointment

Prior to your appointment, a Carbon Health provider will review your registration information for any concerning or severe symptoms. If there are any red flags, they will reach out immediately with a suggested course of action. If not, your visit will continue as scheduled.

At the time of visit, your provider will call you from the app. After introducing themselves, they’ll confirm and review the information you submitted. This will include your chief complaint, symptoms selected, and some overall questions about your current health.

The provider will then create a unique care plan based on your conversation and diagnosis, and send it to you through the app.

Your Carbon Health Virtual Care Plan:

  • Summarizes what was discussed
  • Lays out next steps for care or treatment
  • Often provides relevant educational materials
  • May include a link for booking an appointment at clinic near you if needed
  • Includes any prescriptions listed under your care plan, with a convenient ‘Fill’ button next to the list, so you can select your preferred pharmacy.

Prescription options

Our support team can help to send your prescription to your pharmacy of choice. We also have mail order fulfillment through Alto Pharmacy if you prefer your prescriptions be delivered to your door.

Virtually Painless Payment

If you pay out of pocket (self-pay) or you’re insured with a copay, you’ll receive a receipt via email as soon as the copay or card on file is charged. Typically you’ll receive notice of payment within 24-hours of your appointment, if not the same day.

If your claim returns with a balance due, you’ll get a receipt via email with simple instructions about how to remit payment through the app. This notification usually arrives 4–6 weeks after your initial appointment.

Video Chats End but the Care Doesn’t

Your provider will reach out a few days after your appointment to follow up on your symptoms and progress.

Follow-up questions are welcome. You can reach out to your provider any time via the app.

Note: If your questions and concerns are messaged on the same day as your appointment, the provider who evaluated you will answer. Otherwise, another administrative clinician will be the provider to answer your questions.
